About the Project
Fields Afire is the first feature film from the San Antonio Young Filmmakers Project (SAYFP)
The project was created by Terri Spaugh and Will Underwood for the sole purpose of offering young people the opportunity to participate in the feature filmmaking process. By utilizing film professionals & college level film students as mentors, we will continue to grow a vibrant network of young filmmakers with unique voices and solid technical skills. Growing the creative economy for SA 2020 and beyond.
As a digital cinema instructor at a local high school here in San Antonio, I am blessed to have the opportunity to work with young people every day. I have been involved in many film projects, but this one is special. Giving young artists the chance to work side by side with industry mentors while they realize their creative vision would mean true success for everyone involved.

Why We Need Your Help
These students have made many films with small camcorders and DSLR cameras. We want to take their skills and expertise to a professional level. To accomplish this goal we need your dollars to cover:
- Production
- Gear Rentals
- Food
- Costumes & Props
- Industry Mentor Fees
- Post-Production
- Edit
- Sound
- Color
- Festival Submissions
The Perks
We have arranged for some really cool and meaningful rewards for your generous contributions. There are even opportunities to appear onscreen in the film! Please check out the list to the right for details.
Your Impact
When you donate to this project your contribution will:
- Create opportunities for young people to gain high tech skills and find their voices through filmmaking.
- Encourage student development of critical thinking and problem solving.
- Build a community of independent filmmakers in San Antonio and South Texas
- Enable me to bring together talented people who care about our city's future and provide a chance for them to share their entrepreneurial spirit.
- make possible a transformative experience in our community which will change lives forever.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you aren't in a position to support the film financially at this time, that's okay! Another way to help is by spreading the word about it using the share tools here on IndieGoGo. Join and share our Facebook page and website (www.FieldsAfiretheMovie.com). Tweet @FieldsAfire and blog about us! Check in on our blog for SAYFP.
Please direct others who might be able to get involved back to this IndieGoGo page. Anything and everything will help! We love in-kind donations of food, gear, costumes and props. Goods can be donated as tax deductable items, while services cannot (BUT we'll still take 'em!)
Please let us know if your employer does matching grants, as that can double your gift!
Every pledge creates another opportunity for local youths and is gratefully appreciated!
We will start shooting the film in mid June and have it ready for the 2013 festival season.
One Last Thing
We are also competing for a local indie filmmaker's grant that requires us to raise a minimum of $25,000. If we meet that goal by June 7 we will be in the running to have them MATCH OUR FUNDRAISING WITH AN ADDITIONAL $25,000! Which would cover our entire minimum budget and ensure that this film looks as good as we know it can.
Thanks for all you do!
